FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS · ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING
Make the shot. Understand why it works.
Practical photography mentoring with Matt. For the lighting you want to get your head around, the portraits you want to feel more natural, and the work you know you can take further.

Light, timing and a little encouragement. Sarah & Phil at Woolas Barn.
THE WAY I TEACH
Start with what is holding you back.
You might be new to flash, already shooting weddings, or simply want a fresh pair of eyes on your photographs. We start with your experience and the thing you want to improve, then work through it at a pace that makes sense to you.
Alongside my photography and filmmaking, I bring a background in teaching, assessment and practical coaching. I enjoy breaking a technique down, explaining the decisions behind it and helping you put it into practice. Ask the questions. Try it. Understand what changed.
LIGHT · PEOPLE · CREATIVE DECISIONS
From an idea to an image.
We can explore off-camera flash, balancing it with the light already in the scene, and creating atmosphere after dark. Or focus on the human side: giving simple direction, building confidence and keeping a portrait relaxed.
Bring a selection of your work and the questions behind it. We can look at light, composition, timing and editing choices together, with honest, constructive feedback and a clear focus for what to practise next.
A SESSION WITH A CLEAR FOCUS
Tell me what you want to work on.
One-to-one mentoring is a paid service, arranged by enquiry. Tell me where you are with your photography, what you would like help with and, if you have one, send a link to your work.
We will agree the focus, format, duration and fee before you book, including any preparation or follow-up. That gives us useful time together and a clear understanding of what your session includes.
