From nerves to a walk in the fields.
Sarah and Phil had been nervous about being photographed. Our conversations before the wedding were as much about helping them feel comfortable as planning photographs. When we stepped away for sunset portraits, the idea was simple: take a walk, look at each other and enjoy a little time together.
The fields beside Woolas Barn gave us space and beautiful evening light. I especially love the moment Sarah looks back towards the camera while still holding Phil’s hand. It feels connected to them, not to a complicated pose.

The portraits matter, but so do the hugs, the children and the people cheering you on. A little girl looking towards the camera while her mum squeezes her is exactly the kind of small moment I want couples to have alongside the big photographs.
A proper celebration.
Woolas Barn sits on a working farm near York, with restored farm buildings and open countryside around it. For Sarah and Phil, that setting held everything from the confetti to the quieter time we spent out in the fields.
An idea that came from knowing Phil.
Phil’s interest in Formula One gave us the idea for a champagne spray. It was a playful way to finish the photographs after dark, and a reminder that the best ideas often start with learning a little about the people in front of the camera.
